About Erin
Hi there! I'm a birth doula from Wilsonville, OR, and I'm excited to be living a dream of mine to support other women in labor as a doula. My passion and calling to do birth work began years ago, and it’s only grown since I’ve spent time supporting families and given birth to my own children. The birth of a child is such a miracle, and I stand in awe every time when I witness the strength of a women bringing a new life into this world. The process of labor and birth is natural, and women have been birthing babies since the beginning of time. However, the process can also take many twists and turns, so I believe staying educated, informed, and creating the best environment possible for your birth can help you have the birth experience and outcome you desire.

I'm someone who will always reach for holistic and natural methods for healing and health first. I believe strongly in informed choice and birth choice, and by staying informed I felt comfortable giving birth in different environments with different pregnancies. The birth of my first child was in a hospital, the birth of my second was a waterbirth in a freestanding birth center, and the birth of my third and last baby was a homebirth. All were mostly positive experiences which I attribute to healthy pregnancies, educating myself about labor and birth, and having a doula by my side. Having the continuous support of a doula during my labors showed me that they truly do make a difference. Before my first birth, my husband didn’t understand the role of a doula and wasn’t sure why I wanted one. After my birth he raved about how amazing she was, and he vowed never to go through another labor and birth without a doula!

While originally from the Puget Sound area of Washington state, I've now lived in the greater Portland area for over fifteen years. I've been attending births as a doula off and on for over eight years. I'm also a licensed elementary teacher and currently work at a Christian hybrid school part time. I also love being a mom to my three kids, so between teaching and motherhood, my doula work has become a hobby as I'm only attending a small number of births right now. In my spare time, I (along with my husband) have become a busy chauffeur (and coach) for our kids' sports teams! I also enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, digital scrapbooking, and adventures with my family.
